Attorney Marie Stephenson is an associate attorney with Mooney Law. Attorney Stephenson focuses her practice of law in Family Law (including divorce, custody, support, adoptions, and termination of parental rights) and Criminal Defense (including misdemeanors, summary citations, and traffic citations operating primarily out of the firm’s Hanover, York, and Gettysburg offices. Originally from Hyattsville, Maryland, Attorney Stephenson graduated from Takoma Academy in Takoma Park, Maryland and Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts to Degree in History. Prior to attending law school, Attorney Stephenson worked for two nonprofits and served as a paralegal at a law firm specializing in Bankruptcy and Collections law.
Attorney Stephenson is a graduate of Penn State Dickinson Law. During law school, Attorney Stephenson worked in the Office of Admissions for Dickinson, often helping with recruiting efforts and speaking with potential students about the advantages of a legal education and how a law degree could help them achieve their goals in community outreach. She served for two years as Dickinson Law’s Leading Law Student, working as a non-voting board member for Project SHARE, a nonprofit that works to end food insolvency in Cumberland County. She also interned for the Pennsylvania School Board Association and served as a Student Attorney in Dickinson’s Child Advocacy Clinic where she represented the interests of minors in court proceedings.
Attorney Stephenson joined the Mooney Law family in the summer of 2023 as a paralegal and officially joined the legal team in the Spring of 2024. Attorney Stephenson is excited by her belief in strong advocacy and her passion for community outreach to the firm. In her spare time Attorney Stephenson can be found pursuing bookstores in hopes of adding to her growing book collection and exploring more her new home state of Pennsylvania.
