Shippensburg Business Handed $49,000 in OSHA Fines

OSHA Fines

A Shippensburg business, Shippensburg Domestic Castings, Inc, has been slapped with $49,000 in fines from the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The repeat violations involve unguarded machinery and live electrical parts, and the citations carry $44,100 in penalties. A repeat violation exists when an employer previously has been cited for the same or a similar violation of a standard, regulation, rule or order at any other facility in federal enforcement states within the last five years. The company was cited for the same violations after a June 10, 2011 inspection.

“This company continues to put its workers at risk by failing to implement safety measures that would prevent serious injuries and possible death for its workers,” said Kevin Kilp, director of OSHA’s Harrisburg Area Office. “Employers are legally responsible for ensuring a safe and healthful workplace for employees and will be held legally responsible when they fail to do so.”
